Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

1. About Marché Lavigne

Marché Lavigne (“La maison des bières”), located in Longueuil, Quebec, operates the public website marchelavigne.com. This policy explains how visitors' personal information is handled while using this site.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to the Marché Lavigne public website (content pages, beer catalog, breweries and preference management). It does not cover the store's internal management systems (point of sale, inventory), which are not accessible to the public.

3. Personal information actually collected

The public website has no contact form, sign-up form, customer account, newsletter or online ordering. No name, email address, phone number, mailing address or payment method is requested by the website itself. Your browsing may still set technical cookies (section 6) and generate technical logs at the level of the infrastructure hosting the site (section 4). If you contact us voluntarily by email or phone (for example using the details in section 17), the information you choose to share with us on that occasion (name, email, phone number, message content) is used to respond to your request and manage that communication; that exchange is not handled by the website itself.

4. How information is collected and technical logs

The cookies described in section 6 are placed by your browser while you use the site. In addition, as with the vast majority of websites, the technical infrastructure that hosts and secures the site (web server, firewall, hosting provider) may generate technical logs for each request. Depending on the configuration actually in place, these logs may include the IP address, date and time, requested URL, response code, and browser or user agent used; this policy does not assume that all of these fields are necessarily retained. The site does not currently enable any form, account or third-party tracking service to collect personal information beyond these technical elements.

5. Purposes of use

The cookies described in section 6 are used to make the site work: remembering your display language, your consent preferences for optional technologies, and your legal-age confirmation when you view a page related to alcoholic beverages. The technical logs described in section 4, when generated, are used only for limited purposes such as technical operation, security, diagnostics, abuse prevention and incident resolution. No profiling, targeted advertising or resale of information takes place.

6. Essential cookies and strictly necessary technologies

These cookies are necessary for the site to work and do not depend on your consent to optional technologies:

  • Language cookie — remembers whether you browse the site in French or English (duration: 1 year).
  • ML.Consent — remembers your choice to accept or refuse optional technologies (duration: 180 days). It only contains a version, a choice and an expiry date, with no personal identifier.
  • MarcheLavigne.LegalAge — remembers your legal-age declaration after confirmation, only for pages related to alcoholic beverages (default duration: 365 days). See section 10.
  • Administration session cookie — used only by authorized staff to sign in to the site's management area (“/admin”); it is never set for a public visitor.
  • Security (anti-forgery) token — protects the site's forms against fraudulent submissions; it contains no personal information.

7. Optional cookies or scripts

No optional technology (analytics, advertising or otherwise) is currently enabled on the site. If such a tool were added in the future, it would only be enabled after your explicit consent, and this policy and the consent mechanism would be updated beforehand.

8. How consent works

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or refuse optional technologies. No optional technology is currently enabled. Your choice is nevertheless recorded and will be honored in accordance with the consent mechanism. Any new purpose will require this policy to be updated beforehand and, where required, a new consent request. Your decision is remembered by the ML.Consent cookie described in section 6. Refusing never blocks access to the site's content.

9. Changing your preferences

You can review or change your choice at any time on the consent preference management page, always available from the site's footer.

Manage my consent preferences

10. Legal-age confirmation

Pages dedicated to alcoholic beverages ask for a simple declaration confirming that you have the legal age required. No date of birth, precise age or other personal data is requested or stored: your answer is remembered by the technical MarcheLavigne.LegalAge cookie described in section 6. This mechanism is separate from managing consent to optional cookies (section 8): confirming your age does not change your consent preferences, and vice versa.

11. Third-party providers and hosting

As of today, no third-party analytics, advertising, online payment or messaging provider is integrated into the public website. The site is intended to be hosted by a technology provider chosen by Marché Lavigne; at the time this policy is published, that hosting provider has not yet been confirmed for the production environment. As with any website, the hosting provider ultimately selected may be called upon to process the technical data necessary for operating and securing the site (section 4). This policy will be updated to name the hosting provider and describe its role once that decision is confirmed.

12. Communication and sharing of information

The website does not collect visitors' personal information through a form (section 3). The technical logs described in section 4 may be processed by the site's technical infrastructure or hosting provider, only to the extent necessary to operate and secure the site — never for sale, advertising, or sharing with a third party unrelated to that operation. Information voluntarily provided by email or phone (section 3) is used only to respond to your request.

13. Retention

The cookies described in section 6 are kept in your browser for the duration indicated for each, then expire automatically; you can also delete them at any time from your browser settings. The retention period for the technical logs described in section 4 depends on the configuration of the hosting infrastructure ultimately selected; it is not yet defined at the time this policy is published and will be specified once it has been validated with the hosting provider. Information voluntarily provided by email or phone (section 3) is kept for as long as necessary to respond to your request.

14. Protection measures

The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), protection against fraudulent form submissions, access to the administration area restricted to authorized staff and protected by authentication, and development practices aimed at limiting data collection to what is strictly necessary. No technical secret is publicly exposed.

15. Your rights

Under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, you may request access to, or correction of, personal information about you, or withdraw your consent, to the extent such information exists. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. Every request is handled within the timeframes set out by that Act.
